Pembina makes $15,000 donation to RiverWatch
CALGARY, Dec. 7, 2011 /CNW/ - Pembina Pipeline Corporation (TSX: PPL) is
pleased to announce its support of aquatic education for Alberta youth
through a $15,000 donation to the RiverWatch Institute of Alberta.
RiverWatch, a province-wide program, will use the funds to help connect
young people with the science relevant to their local rivers to better
understand aquatic health.
"Pembina is very excited to work with RiverWatch to help students learn
about the importance of the health of our local water systems," said
Shawn Davis, Manager of Communications and Public Affairs for Pembina
Pipeline Corporation. "Partnering with educational initiatives directed
at environmental awareness, such as RiverWatch, can help Pembina make a
difference to the types of programs offered in our communities."
The funds provided by Pembina will be used in RiverWatch's educational
and environmental initiatives to maintain student user-fees at
RiverWatch is now the most widely used and in-depth environmental
science program available to Alberta secondary schools. Through
interactive hands-on learning experiences, approximately 10,000 young
scientists each year are actively engaged in learning about river
ecology, environmental monitoring, field work, data collection,
wastewater treatment technology and environmental stewardship.
Pembina's community investment program supports non-profit and
charitable organizations based in the communities where we operate. The
company's funding priorities include an environmental component aimed
at directing financial contributions and resources to support programs
that preserve and protect the environment.
Pembina transports crude oil and natural gas liquids produced in western
Canada, owns and operates oil sands pipelines and has a growing
presence in midstream and natural gas services sectors. Pembina's
common shares and convertible debentures are traded on the TSX under
