CALGARYMarch 31, 2014 /CNW/ - Bob Michaleski, retired Chief Executive Officer of Pembina Pipeline Corporation ("Pembina" or the "Company") (TSX: PPL; NYSE: PBA), gave a million reasons for why he believes in the importance of supporting the youth in our city and province. Mr. Michaleski retired from Pembina on December 31, 2013 after 35 years-of-service and was gifted by the Company's Board of Directors with the opportunity to make $1 million worth of donations to his charity or charities of choice. His chosen charity - United Way of Calgary and Area.

A long time supporter and volunteer of United Way, Mr. Michaleski requested the entire amount - $1 million - be donated to their All In for Youth initiative — a 'movement of citizens, companies, organizations and government working together to ensure more youth successfully complete high school and transition to further education, work and adult life.'

"I am proud to be part of the local community and am encouraged to think that my contribution can help move others in positive ways. Youth in our society are critical to the future success of our city, our province and our country - and supporting them to complete school is something we all have a responsibility to uphold," said Mr. Michaleski, "I am grateful to Pembina's Board for providing me with such a special opportunity."

"Bob is an exemplary leader in business and our community. Pembina is proud to support a worthwhile cause that is so close to his heart," said Lorne Gordon, Chairman of Pembina's Board of Directors.

"Bob is a true community builder," says Lucy Miller, United Way's President & CEO. "I can't thank him enough for his continued generosity and vision for the future. With this gift, Bob is helping kids in our city reach their full potential and thrive - which benefits our entire community."
